被譽為美國“流行天王”的麥可積遜在洛杉磯猝逝。
洛杉磯一家醫院的驗屍官證實，50歲的“流行天王”（King of Pop）麥可積遜已經死亡。麥可積遜是在住所昏迷暈倒，救護人員到場時他已經沒有呼吸，救護人員即時為他進行心肺復甦，將他送院急救。
《洛杉磯時報》在網上發佈有關消息後，不少歌迷都大為震驚。大批歌迷都趕到醫院外，等候消息。
其後，《洛杉磯時報》和TMZ.com等傳媒都報導，麥可積遜是心臟病發，心臟已經停頓，搶救後不治。
麥可積遜的遺體已經從醫院移送法醫辦事處驗屍。洛杉磯縣法醫發言人表示，暫不會就麥可積遜的死因作出猜測。
